What’s love? A few letters mashed together or is love a feeling?

What’s love if it’s not unconditional?

Why do you love? Is it because the person makes you happy, is it because they’ve got nice clothes, a sweet face, good job or do you love them because of how they make you feel or what they do for you? Is it really love or is it lust, better yet who even understands love? Does love even make any sense? Doesn’t falling in love mean you can eventually fall out of it?

These are the questions so many think about but are afraid to ask.

I believe to love a person is to love them for being the imperfect being they are, it’s loving them despite their flaws. It’s loving their energy, their essence, it’s the air that surrounds them. It’s not these temporary superficial things that will eventually fade.. it’s loving that persons true self.

People get into relationships and refer to the beginning as the honeymoon period, the period where it’s bliss straight sailing. True natures hidden we grow to love a false representations of that person, or a half self where only the best traits are shown. Six months later the relationship is on the rocks because your true selves begin to come out and that’s not what you both signed up to right. You fell for the mask.

This is why it’s so important to be yourself from the beginning. I’ll show you my bipolar personality, I’ll tell you exactly what you’re getting yourself into. I’ll share my past with you, I will never pretend to be perfect or try to present myself as someone who hasn’t made any mistakes. Doing this takes some level of personal awareness, because no one knows your flaws better than you.

We’re living in a time where it’s so important to own our bs. If we want to be loved for who we are, we must embrace our true selves. Less relationships would fizzle out if everyone was able to do this.

Don’t allow someone to fall in love with the idea of you, let them fall for the real you because once they realise that the idea they have cultivated in their head doesn’t match up to reality, they will easily fall back out of this so called love they was in.

The moral of the story.. be yourself and you can’t go wrong.

So what is love? There is no one true complete answer. The real question is what is love to you? That’s all that matters.
